This is for the "BIKE" enthusiasts in our family ; ~ ) As you can see, bicyclyes are right up there with all other modes of transportation. Well deserving of their own parking space.
Most homes here rely on fresh water that is caught from the roof of the house, but rain is just not coming. Every once in a while we'll get a nice drench but not near the normal for this little island. So many here have had to resort to having fresh water delivered to replenish their water tanks. It's been interesting to observe the many trucks up and down the road. Most of this water has to be desalinated.
You know how annoying it is when your cooking and you forget to get the butter out to soften. Well here, sitting the butter outside works faster than the microwave and much more evenly. Isn't it great!
This one has such a lovely entry, you can't appreciate the home enough at this angle, sorry. I was an interior design major, so I'm always snooping & admiring homes that are well done. Hope you'll enjoy them as well. Aren't they great!
After our Doctrine & Covenants class, Bart had a car load of folks to take home. So Latricia and I waited for him to come back and pick us up. This is the view we had as we waited, it was so beautiful. Make sure and click on the picture to enlarge, so you can see the sail boats of many colors.
Any one who knows Bart knows how much he loves a good "Hot Dog". Well he was not to be disappointed here in Bermuda, it's "dog gone time" . How about you Mary, you want a hot dog? Ha, ha, ha! As you can see the fellow has done it up very professional. I very much like the slaw dog......it's a popular place, always very busy.
These are just two of my favorite things, food truly is a comfort when out of your element. This fudge sauce is at the top of my list for chocolate! (Oops, did you notice the bottle is EMPTY)
Okay so your Dad has been a very good COMPANION, we make the bed together everyday. YEAH! So excuse me, but one day I teased him about not getting his pillows fluffed as high as mine. This is what I found later that day ; ) Gotta LOVE him!
Check this tree out, all the roots and the root on the far left that has grown down from the tree creating another trunk. Cool huh. This caught my eye, looks like the building comes right out of the wall. We figured out that it is of course a garage and the smaller building with a door must house an elevator. The house is on top of the wall of rock. It overlooks a beautiful harbor. Just love this one. Snapped this picture of a Bermudian. Quite striking!
In our traveling around the island we were able to snap this photo that shows so well the variations in the color of the ocean. I'm sure due to the coral reefs here. Isn't it beautiful, as always the picture is not as good as the real thing. It's breathtaking!
Dad has made it his mission to find an automatic car wash here. He stopped to inquire of a fellow on the street who's response was to be very puzzled by the question. He did suggest to him that if he would get hold of a bucket and fill it with water, he could perform that task very easily. But AHA! We did find the car wash on the island, it's cost for a run through, $32. The bucket is looking better all the time!
This is just one of many beautiful homes here in Bermuda, but it's one of my favorite! If you were to look straight out from the front porch you would be looking out over a spectacular bay view.
I love the unique names they have for the many lanes here. Also what a great little barbershop! I know that Rich H will appreciate this more than most. We were in the town of St Georges, on the east end of the island.
